Films on TV this week

Tuesday

E4, 8.00, The Simpsons Movie

In case you missed it the first time round, or just wanted to laugh at the cartoon capers of the famous yellow family once more, tune in at 8.00 for one of the best moves from TV show to film.

Film4, 9.00, Forrest Gump

With Tom Hanks praised earlier in the year for his stunning turn in Captain Philips, Forrest Gump showcases his range once more, and it’s particularly handy if you’re studying A-level history.

Wednesday

Film4, 10.50, In Bruges

Writer of Seven Psychopaths Martin McDonagh’s earlier black comedy is wickedly funny and bleak at the same time. Wonderful stuff, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes.

Thursday

BBC2, 9.00, Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

For a view of the holocaust from the eyes of a child, tune into BBC2, to see some top acting from an incredible cast in this adaptation of the book by John Boyne.

Friday

5.00, CBBC, Flushed Away

For some family friendly film fun in the holidays, that will make adults and children laugh alike, watch this rat infested, inherently British, Aardman film with a cast ranging from Kate Winslet to Hugh Grant.

Film4, 10.35, Inglorious Basterds

Quite different to the family fun on CBBC, this Tarantino film from 2010 offers a different perspective to Nazi Germany, with shooting and killin’ galore.

C4, 12.20, Wayne’s World

Ex-Squeeze me? Put on Bohemian Rhapsody and bash your head along to this cult comedy classic.
